Ketubah on Leather Parchment

The Carob Tree

The carob tree is a large evergreen covered in branches that produces a known substitute for cocoa called the carob (“natural chocolate”).
Carob growing has been referred to in the Bible and was known to the ancient Greeks as well.

The couple are having a beautiful garden where they grow all kinds of plants, flowers, and trees. They wanted their Ketubah to symbolize the hard work they put in their garden, which is always blooming and fruitful, just like their life together. They have noticed the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds were visiting their garden many times and wanted to incorporate that too.

The hummingbirds symbolizes the enjoyment of life and lightness of being.  This fascinating bird is capable of the most amazing feats despite its small size, such as traveling great distances or being able to fly backwards. It symbolizes the encouragement to develop adaptability and resiliency while keeping a playful and optimistic outlook.

As a golden border I’ve added some beautiful California Poppy Seeds, colorful flowers and blue butterfly, as a symbol of growing, flourishing, and happiness.
